1.4 Apprenticeship Training
Apprenticeship training involves on-the-job training under the supervision of a qualified tradesperson, and periods of in-school training to learn the technical knowledge required to become competent in an occupation. The number and the length of on-the-job and in-school technical training periods vary depending upon the occupation. When training in an occupation through the apprenticeship system, the individual becomes an apprentice by having an apprenticeship Memorandum of Understanding registered with the Department of Education’s Division of Institutional and Industrial Education. For more information on apprenticeship training please contact the Division of Institutional and Industrial Education at (709) 729-2350, or e-mail: app@gov.nl.ca.
