Graduation Requirements and Course Numbering

A graduation certification will be issued to a student who acquires 36 credits in accordance with the following regulations.

Students must acquire 25 credits in course listed as satisfying a core requirement. The following must be included in the 25 credits:

Language	3
Literature	4
Mathematics	4
Science	4
Social Studies Canadian Studies (2) World Studies (2)	4
Economic Education	2
Other Subject Areas (Other Than Those Listed Above)	4
Any Subject Areas	11
Total	36

The attainment of the overall total of 36 or more credits should be such that:

Not less than 20 credits are from level 2 and 3 courses.
Not less than 9 credits are from level 3 courses (or higher) attained in a Newfoundland senior high school program.

Please Note: These regulations govern the awarding of a Provincial High School Graduation Certificate. They are not intended to satisfy entrance requirements to post-secondary institutions. Students wishing to attend a post-secondary institution should consult entrance requirements for the particular institution.

Course Numbering System
